My Countryside

Let me tell you about my countryside. Even though I’ve been to a lot of

places,  with me, the most beautiful place in my heart is my hometown of

KrongBong . If you could spend just a day there, you would never regret it. In

the morning, you can hear the sound of the birds waking up after a long night,

singing a welcome song  to the morning. A chorus of insects with crickets, frogs,

and cicadae … plays the country-music song in the evening. You can also hear

the sound from a little funny wind that goes through the forest, the bamboo, and

it will bring you a comfortable feeling. If you go to one of the famous waterfall

there, which is named  Krong Kmar (it means father river), you can know how

boisterous the sound is, and relish the attractive and impressive scenes. The

sound of mother sings a lullaby, sound of flutes, sound of fatherland. Look

around all the town  from  the highest mountain’s peak- Chu Jang Sin, what you

can see are the beautiful  views of waterfall, trees, rocks, and far away, there are

some small houses with grey smoke going up from chimneys. You can also

watch people go back and forth on the road to town’s center, children go to

school, and I’ll show you my school, either ancient or modern. Some girl-students

are going home after school with bright smiles and very pretty in Ao Dai, which

known traditional dress of Vietnamese women. My countryside doesn’t have an

ocean, but we have the rice-sea. There are large fields with green color of the

paddies, wind blows across to make it like a green pretty beach. Pick some ripe

fruits from back yard, and you may enjoy them right away. They’re so delicious

and sweet. Wine drunk out of a jar through pipes (Vietnamese calls Rượu Cần )

is a special wine of highlanders such as Krongbong. It’s made from just wild

leaves, cassava roots and rice but people make a really strange smell and taste

for this wine so you never could forget it. I remember the senses when I went on

the dam without shoes, slept under  branches in my grandma’s back yard, rode

a bike cutting cross the field, felt  how the wind touched my face, blew up my hair

and laughed with me  … When you enjoy nature, come back to normal things, it

seems to be airy and comfortable strangely. There are so many things to talk

about my countryside, but let me keep it secret, so I can show you on the day

you come there.
